Prepress Project Manager |
Sunrise Hitek, a fast growing digital color printing company in Chicago, seeks a full-time prepress project manager. Sunrise Hitek is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, extremely well-organized, and detail oriented prepress project manager with expert technical knowledge as well as excellent interpersonal and communications skills. The hours for this position are 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with overtime and weekend work on an as-needed basis. If you are the best-in-the-business, then we want you! Some of the responsibilities of this position include: PROJECT MANAGEMENT Take projects through the entire production process, including preflight, send files for output, project-related customer interaction, coordination with outside vendors, prepare shipping documents, etc. PREFLIGHT # Check customer files for potential problems such as fonts, graphics, resolution, color space, spot color names, size, bleeds, orientation, etc. # Prepare press-ready PDF/X-1a for output # Complex manual trapping of CMYK and spot colors using a combination of programs including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, QuarkXPress, and more. Manual trapping frequently involves the use of alpha channels, spot color layers, DCS2 files, etc. # Set up files for variable-data output # Send files for film, CTP, Indigo digital press, and large format color plotter output CTP AND FILM OUTPUT # Use both Hot Folder and Job Ticket workflows in Trueflow 3 for managing and outputting CTP jobs to plates or 1-bit TIFF # Automatic trapping using TrapWise and RIP-based trapping # Complex manual trapping using Adobe Illustrator # Manual imposition using InDesign and QuarkXPress, including complex nested layouts, manual placement of color bar, registration marks, side guide, etc. # Set up templates for automatic imposition using Imposer and Flatworker # Plate output to 8-up Screen platesetter # Output film to Linotronic and Screen large format imagesetters # General handling of metal plates and inventory # Maintenance of output devices and processors SCANNING AND IMAGE MANIPULATION # Color scanning on Heidelberg Topaz and Umax PowerLook scanners # Color correction of scanned images to match original # Dust clean-up, sharpening, and recording to CD/DVD of scanned images # Use Photoshop actions to batch process images EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE # General equipment of output devices and processors MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS # High school graduate # Minimum 2 years of prepress experience # High attention to detail and extremely well organized # Ability to work under pressure # Ability to work overtime as required # Self-motivated and ability to work without supervision under tight deadlines # Fast with working in different applications and quick with mathematics # Expert knowledge of trapping and imposition # Clear understanding of the printing terminology and practices # Expert knowledge of four major programs, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, QuarkXPress on both Mac and Windows platforms # Working knowledge of font management # Expert knowledge of color models and color management # Expert knowledge of PDF and related editing tools # Working knowledge of file transfer and compression PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS # Experience in service bureau/trade shop (working with files from many sources) # College experience and degree or graduate degree # Working knowledge of Trueflow system and Flatworker # Experience with Indigo digital press and Onyx RIP for large format inkjet plotter |
